Full house. Three tequila cocktails. And a spread of Mexican-inspired bites so good, guests were packing up to-go boxes on their way out.
That was Saturday night at Cooking Skills & Social, and honestly? It was one for the books.
Our Spicy Sips: Margaritas, Palomas & Mexican Bites class brought together guests of all ages — from the younger crowd looking to sharpen their cocktail game to the more seasoned home entertainers ready to try something new. Whatever brought them through the door, everyone left with the same thing: full hands, full stomachs, and a few new tricks for their next dinner party.
Three Cocktails, Three Food Pairings — All Made From Scratch
The evening moved through three drinks and three bites, each one building on the last.
We kicked things off with a Cantarito — tequila, fresh grapefruit and lime juice, grapefruit soda, and a tajin rim — paired with crispy tinga tostadas topped with fresh tomato salsa and queso fresco. It's a bright, punchy combo, and watching guests take that first sip alongside that first bite was the moment the room really came alive.
From there, we moved into the Paloma, a classic done right — and paired with a green papaya and jicama salad with mango vinaigrette. Light, citrusy, a little tropical. The kind of pairing that surprises you.
We closed the night with the showstopper: a Hibiscus Margarita alongside chicken mole on rice with Mexican street corn. The mole got people talking. Rich, layered, and complex enough that more than a few guests were asking for the recipe — and scooping the rest into containers to bring home. When leftovers are that good, you take them.
BYOB, Your Way
As always, our classes are BYOB — and for Spicy Sips, that meant bring your own tequila. Guests came ready, and the variety of bottles on the counter made for some fun conversation between cocktails. We handle the recipe, the technique, and the food. You bring your favorite bottle and your favorite people.
Cocktails Are Better When You Know How to Make Them
One of the things we hear most after classes like this is that guests are surprised how approachable the drinks actually are. Cocktail-making can feel intimidating at home — the ratios, the balance, the garnishes — but once you've made a Cantarito from scratch in a room full of people doing the same thing, it stops feeling complicated and starts feeling fun.
That's what we're going for every single class.
Whether you're planning a date night, a birthday, or just looking for something more interesting than another dinner reservation, our public cooking and cocktail classes are open to everyone. And if you want to bring your whole crew, our private events can be fully customized around your group, your menu, and your moment.
Because the best cocktails aren't just about what's in the glass.
