Corporate Holiday Party Ideas in Chicago: Skip the Banquet Room, Book Our Kitchen

Every December, the same scene plays out across Chicago. Long table at a restaurant, the same five people talking to each other, a toast nobody can hear, and half the team checking the time by 8:30.
It’s not a bad night. It’s just not a memorable one.
This year, give your team a holiday party they’ll actually talk about in January. At Cooking Skills & Social, your group takes over our kitchen, cooks a seasonal meal together with our chef, and sits down to a table they made themselves.
Why a Cooking Party Beats the Usual Holiday Dinner
People actually mix. At a restaurant, everyone sits next to who they already know. In our kitchen, the sales lead ends up rolling gnocchi with someone from accounting. Conversations happen naturally because everyone has something to do with their hands.
It’s built-in entertainment. No DJ to book, no awkward games to organize. The cooking is the event, and our chef keeps the energy up from the first apron to the last bite.
It feels like a celebration, not a meeting. BYOB means your team can bring the holiday wine, the bourbon, or the bubbly. We handle the glassware, ice, and non-alcoholic options. Add dessert and you’ve got a full holiday spread.
Everyone’s included. Send us dietary restrictions a week before and we’ll adapt the menu so every person at the table can dig in.
Pick Your Holiday Format
Chef-Led Cooking Event (6–15 guests)Perfect for leadership teams, small departments, or a close-knit crew. Our chef guides you through a full menu step by step. It’s relaxed, hands-on, and feels like a private dinner party.
Cooking Skills Challenge (15–70 guests)Our most popular format for company parties. Teams compete to cook their dish, taste it together, then present a poem about their team and the food before Chef picks a winner. Loud, fun, and the best icebreaker for big groups.
Client Appreciation Cooking Event (16–40 guests)The holidays are the perfect time to thank your best clients. Instead of another gift basket, invite them in for an evening of cooking and conversation with your team. It’s a relationship builder that doesn’t feel like a sales pitch.
Missed December? January Might Be Even Better
December calendars get packed fast, for your team and for us. That’s why more companies are moving their holiday party to January.
Easier scheduling. No competing with family plans, travel, and three other parties the same week.
A better reset. A January event kicks off the new year on a high note instead of squeezing into the year-end chaos.
More date options. If December is already full, a winter team event gives you more flexibility on the night that works best.
Call it a holiday party, a winter kickoff, or a “we survived Q4” celebration. Your team won’t care what it’s called once the short rib hits the table.
