chef sofia
Sofia studied and graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts from Kendall College at NIU in Chicago and since then has worked in back of house and front of house management positions within the restaurant industry. During her time in restaurants, she found a love for health and fitness which led her to her next endeavour. For almost the past 3 years, she opened, owns and operates her very own meal prep company local to the Bloomingdale area, called Meal Me. Her position with Meal Me allows her to dive deep into different cuisines and recipes and then create a way to make them healthier and provide nutrition information and calories per meal. Her goal at Cooking Skills & Social is to be able to provide similar delicious, quality recipes that are easy to recreate in your home and give more insight into the health benefits and accessibility that comes along with cooking for yourself! "I’ll know I’ve done my job if when leaving my cooking classes you feel more confident exploring new flavours and cooking in your own home, because at the end of the day we are all confident cooks!"

chef tony
Chef Tony Cannon grew up in the restaurant world, starting at the age of Fourteen. After working in kitchens for 15 years, Tony attended The Art Institute of Nashville for culinary school. He owns 2 food businesses: a seasoning company called That Rub, and a local food truck specializing in Southern Comfort Food, Aunt Tina's Sound Bites. Tony is a culinary artist and loves to create in the kitchen, which is how the seasoning company was started. When he realized that people wanted to not just buy the seasoning, but food made with it, he decided with his wife (and General Manager of Cooking Skills & Social) Abbey that a food truck would be a perfect way to showcase a menu featuring the seasonings! You may already recognize Tony, as he's taught classes on a part time basis for Cooking Skills since we relaunched, however during the slow food truck season, he is here quite a bit more often, leading both public cooking classes and private events.
